Ananya Rao is a second year undergraduate student from Bangalore, studying anthropology and environmental science at Ashoka University. She is working with an organization that devises solid waste management strategies for large institutions and is conducting a research project on community based solutions to revive polluted lakes in Bangalore. She aims to establish systems that allow for the efficient and sustainable use of common property natural resources, particularly water bodies, which maintains the health of the natural bodies without alienating them from the communities that traditionally depend upon them for sustenance.
