What We Did In 2024: Message from ThinkOcean’s President

Dear Ocean friends and Community,
Picture this: a vibrant green mangrove seedling, stretching skyward from the shores of Tiko, Cameroon. Today, it stands tall, one of more than 2,000 we planted and monitored this year—an incredible testament to what we can achieve together. Behind this thriving mangrove lies a story of youth-led determination, shared purpose, and an unwavering commitment to restoring our planet’s blue heart.
At ThinkOcean, our vision is clear: to empower youth globally to take bold, innovative actions that restore, protect, and sustain ocean ecosystems for generations to come. We see a world where every coastline thrives with life, every community embraces ocean stewardship, and every young voice becomes a catalyst for transformative change. This vision drives every project we undertake and inspires every milestone we reach.
This year has been extraordinary for ThinkOcean Society. Our work took root in countless ways, from the shores of Cameroon to classrooms in India and digital spaces worldwide. Together, we planted hope with a 99.8% mangrove survival rate in Tiko and reached over 5,000 young minds in India with our High Seas Treaty awareness campaign, igniting pledges for ocean conservation. The High Seas awareness efforts began at the LCOY 2024 event in Mysore, rippling outward to generate 1 million media impressions across mainstream outlets such as Global Indian Network and Times of India.
In Nigeria, our regional team wove creativity into conservation with an environmental art workshop, inspiring action through the universal language of art. Meanwhile, we hosted four impactful virtual events that brought together changemakers from around the world. And now, we’re proud to launch our Mangroves Matter Toolkit—a powerful resource designed to empower young leaders to take tangible conservation actions in their communities.
At ThinkOcean, we believe in the extraordinary potential of youth to drive meaningful change. Every mangrove planted, every pledge signed, and every conversation sparked is proof that this belief is well-founded. As we look to the future, the stakes are high, but so is our optimism.
