JULIE YANG - US EXPANSION & PARTNERSHIPS DIRECTOR

UCLA C’23

Julie is am a sophomore at UCLA majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Conservation Biology. Growing up in the Bay Area, she has always been fascinated by California’s vast diversity of plants and animals, which developed into a strong interest in topics like ecology, botany, and sustainability. She believes that for the sake of our generation and future generations, we must be aware of the environmental impacts of our everyday actions and make conscious decisions to reduce our ecological footprint. At school, she is involved in a UC-wide campaign that advocates for a sustainable food system by encouraging more plant-based options and cruelty-free food vendors, among other environmental clubs. Currently, she is also part of an undergraduate research project called Capturing California’s Flowers, which aims to digitize herbarium specimens across the state to assess the impacts of climate change on plant distributions, phenology, and health throughout time.
In her free time, her main hobbies are playing badminton and playing piano since those are activities she has been doing since a very young age, but she also loves discovering new music, exploring nature, and hiking.
