He is the President and Founder of DACTION, a non-profit initiative focused on the development and advancement of youth through education and is fostered towards ocean conservation. The organization employs the use of information-technology integrated techniques to achieve this, nurturing innovation among young people while discovering and implementing lasting solutions unto plastic pollution.
In addition to writing for the ThinkOcean blog and being in the ThinkOcean Global Outreach Team, Daniel is a Commonwealth Correspondent who contributes research and stories on topics like environment, conservation, and education.
Daniel has substantial skill and experience in the practice of activism and peer leadership in the Ocean Heroes Network and is currently serving as a Super Squad Leader for the Network in this year’s Ocean Heroes Bootcamp, leading Sea Nettle Squads in a series of four Bootcamps (OHBC Global, OHBC Africa, OHBC India and OHBC Caribbean).
He helps advice Ocean Heroes on campaign planning and mentors young people from different nations and cultures. Daniel also served as the squad leader of the Mantis Shrimp squad in the Ocean Heroes Bootcamp 2020.
He has a high interest in the SDGs and in October, he volunteered in the SDGs week for the World’s Largest Lessons Nigeria 2019 – Activating Nigeria’s children for the SDGs where he taught middle school students about ocean plastic pollution while teaching under the SDG 14: Life Below Water.
According to Daniel, success is not measured by the amount of wealth, accolades and achievements to our names, rather by how much impact we have made on our environment. He is driven by this commitment to reduce knowledge-gaps of the physical environment by raising his voice for people to rise and answer to the call of conservation. His dream is to become not just a professional in his field but also an influential person in the world who causes changes for a fairer future.
