Ajay Sawant
Ajay Sawant is a marine conservationist, science communicator and non-profit leader passionate about translating biodiversity science into on-ground conservation and governance outcomes. He leads as the President of ThinkOcean Society. His work engages multilateral processes, youth governance platforms, and international conservation coalitions to translate field realities into policy action.
Recognised through honours including the Explorers Club 50 – Fifty People Changing the World, The World Needs to Know About, NAAEE EE 30 Under 30, the 2023 Youth Innovation Prize, the Canadian High Commission’s 29 for 29 changemaker honour, and The Asia Foundation’s LeadNext 2025 Fellowship, Ajay also serves as the High Seas Youth Ambassador for Asia, working to accelerate the signing and ratification of the High Seas Treaty.
Ajay bridges science, policy, and communication through design thinking methodologies to build inclusive and impactful pathways for ocean-climate resilience. He is an incoming Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University and the youngest strategic communications advisory board member for UNESCO-IOC UN Ocean Decade.
